Afrikaans vs Dutch

Afrikaans and Dutch sit in the same corner of the writing-system map — Grafle's Latin group — and players mix them up constantly. Here's the fastest way to tell them apart.

The tell

Afrikaans is stripped-down Dutch: it writes y where Dutch writes ij (vry vs vrij), and the standalone 'n is the giveaway.
