How to recognize Telugu
Telugu is one of 14 languages in Grafle's Brahmic / Indic group. Here's what it looks like, where you'll see it on signs, and how to tell it apart from its lookalikes.
Spot it fast
- Round letters with a little check-mark (✓) tick on top of many of them — Kannada's twin, but with ticks instead of bars.

- India
Easy to confuse with
- Kannada — Near-twins. Telugu letters wear a little check-mark (✓) tick; Kannada letters wear a flat bar or crescent.
- Tamil — Telugu is round with check-mark ticks on top; Tamil is chunkier, more angular, no ticks.
